Problems of the acute and long term outcome genetic studies:
1-Usually retrospective studies.
2-Different variables, time-points recruited.
Difference with respect to previous studies in the acute and long-term outcome:
1-Similar variables and time-points recruited, consequently less heterogeneity and higher interconnectivity between projects.
AIMS of the Global Alliance:

1-To have a consensus about minimum and preferred variables to be recruited.
​
2-To follow this consensus in prospective studies.
​
3-To facilitate the data sharing.
​
4-To facilitate project interconnections.
